Concert to benefit the Westside Food Pantry
Jul 11, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
New this year to Arthur Russell Week is a four-day chamber music program for adult amateurs. Directed by Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist Noreen Silver, the camp offers opportunities to adult instrumentalists to play in small groups. On Thursday, July 11 (7:00pm) at St. John Episcopal Church, the adult participants will present a public performance (as a fundraiser for the Westside Food Pantry). This concert offers a particularly meaningful appearance by soprano Rachel Henry (daughter of Kate Henry who created the ARW program, and niece of Arthur Russell) in the Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos, with an ensemble of eight cellos.
“We can’t all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by.”
– Will Rogers
