ELLSWORTH - Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers an Instrument Petting Zoo from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in partnership with the Ellsworth Public Library. Offered as part of Heart of Ellsworth’s annual Art of Ellsworth celebration, ECMI Faculty and ECMI Student Ambassadors will give string instrument and piano demonstrations, and will allow children to touch, play, and experience instruments in person.
An ECMI Student Ambassador shared, “It’s fun to spend time with my teacher outside of lessons and work with her to get other kids excited about music. I like seeing the kids' faces light up when they hear someone play the instrument and they can hear a sound they didn’t expect.”
The Instrument Petting Zoo will be held at the Ellsworth Public Library at 20 State Street in Ellsworth, Maine. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Admission is free to the public and no registration is required. Supported in part by a grant from the Onion Foundation.
The next Instrument Petting Zoo will be held at the Blue Hill Public Library on November 15 from 10am-12pm.
