ELLSWORTH - Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers an Instrument Petting Zoo from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025 with organizational partner, the Northeast Harbor Library. ECMI Faculty and ECMI Student Ambassadors will give string instrument and piano demonstrations, allowing children to touch, play, and experience instruments in person.

An ECMI Student Ambassador shared, “It’s fun to spend time with my teacher outside of lessons and work with her to get other kids excited about music. I like seeing the kids' faces light up when they hear someone play the instrument and they can hear a sound they didn’t expect.”

The Instrument Petting Zoo will be held at the Northeast Harbor Library at 1 Joy Road in Northeast Harbor, Maine. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Admission is free to the public. Supported in part by a grant from the Onion Foundation.

Future Instrument Petting Zoos will be held at the Ellsworth Public Library on October 4 from 10am-12pm and at the Blue Hill Public Library on November 15 from 10am-12pm.
