ECMI Celebrates 10 Years!

Universally, human beings are wired to respond to certain rhythms, harmonies, and intervals. Music opens the mind and changes the heart; the result is increased understanding and empathy.
It is powerful! Participating in a community orchestra or chorus, playing chamber music with friends, or appreciating classical music can be a transcendent experience.
We know that studying music benefits the developing brain, and that students do better across all disciplines if they receive music lessons growing up. But children in rural areas generally have limited exposure to fine, live professional performances and instruction. Area public schools provide classroom music education, but almost no teaching of stringed instruments or piano. ECMI has been filling that void for many children in our region since its founding ten years ago.
Community members of all ages are able to share the power of music through ECMI’s adult classes and free midday concerts.

Our overarching goals are to continue to make a positive impact on our community, make music accessible to all, and ensure our music school’s future. The following objectives will allow us to achieve these goals.
